About

Hakan Profile PictureWelcome to my blog,

I am Hakan. I am writing this blog to share my passion of Oriental Handmade Carpets and speak loud what most rug dealers will keep for themselves.

I am 32 years old, son of a reputable Turkish rug dealer. Let me not bore you – so here is a what I am about:

  • At 6 I was already spending most of my time in my dad’s rug shop – It was really fun to throw all these rugs around!
  • At 12 I started helping my dad in the shop during Summer holidays – mostly bringing tea to customers :)
  • At 15 I sold my first handmade rug – and kept doing so afterwards
  • At 17 I graduated from the French high-school in Istanbul / Turkey
  • At 24 I got my Master of Financial Mathematics in France
  • Having travelled and worked in Paris and Dublin, I am back to Turkey managing the online activity of CarpetView.

If you have any comments or questions, feel free to ask. I really enjoy interacting with others online.

About CarpetView

CarpetView started as a rug shop called “Le Bazaar d’Orient” in Cappadocia – Turkey in 1973 and has expanded over the years.

As a family business, we really focused on satisfying our Customers, being honest with them and selling always the best quality Handmade rugs. Read more about CarpetView.

What are our Values?

  1. Be Open & Honest
  2. Provide accurate information and don’t be afraid to say “I don’t know” when we don’t know
  3. Deliver “WOW” Customer Service
  4. Share our passion of handmade rugs
  5. Keep our specialized “Boutique” shop & Family spirit
  6. Support preservation of Antique rugs
  7. Help spreading the Handmade rugs culture (it is trendy & cool)
  8. Be socially responsible vs. the people knotting rugs (the artists!)
  9. Buy and Sell always the best quality – even if we have to pay more for it (talented people that create beauty and Art deserve to be remunerated)
  10. Pursue Learning – Embrace & Drive Change

We applied these values over these years, and I want to keep it that way for our online business too.

Thank you for reading this blog. I hope you’ll enjoy the experience!
